Weaves of Fate takes the classic Polish card game Makao and reforges it into a roguelike duel. You still match, force draws, and shed your hand — but the goal is to kill your opponent using those rules:

  • Match the pile by colour or rank (illegal cards are dimmed).
  • Force-draws overflow into damage — push cards onto the enemy past their hand cap; the excess becomes HP damage.
  • Empty your hand for a MAKAO burst — hit the foe directly, then refill.

Chains — counter, or take the penalty:

  • 2s & 3s force draws — take them and you draw the running total.
  • 7s demand a colour, Jacks demand a rank (5/6/8/9/10) — answer with a matching card, or draw a penalty and lose your turn. (Land a demand and you can shed that colour/rank yourself next turn.)
  • 4s stun — skip a turn for each one in the chain.

Defensive cards:

  • Guard absorbs part of an incoming force-draw · Reflect bounces it back · Nullify cancels it · Halve cuts it in half.
  • Combo — +1 to your next numeric card, stacks, keeps your turn · Ditch — discard cards at random.

Statuses — poison and bleed grind a hand down over time.

This is a prototype — I want to find out if the core loop is fun and worth building out. There are 3 starting decks to try, one act with a boss at the end, a card draft after every fight, and deck-thinning at camps. Every comment shapes the next update.
